1530 American flags dot the landscape south of the Capitol in remembrance of children who died due to abuse or neglect
A new display at the state Capitol is putting the spotlight on child abuse, with 1,530 American flags representing children who died in the U.S. due to abuse or neglect.
Oklahoma has the highest child abuse death rate of any state in the nation, with nearly 12,000 confirmed cases of child abuse last year and 32 deaths.
The Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse has set up the Capitol display to raise community awareness in an effort to stop child abuse and deaths.
