Cody Burns of McClain County DHS was sworn in as Region 6 Director at the October 7 meeting of the OPEA Board of Directors. Cody will complete the unexpired term of Dixie Jackson, who resigned from the Board take a position as OPEA Grievance Coordinator.
Cody was elected by the Region 6 Council using procedures outlined in the OPEA Bylaws and Election Board Rules.
Cody is a Social Services Specialist II for McClain County DHS. He is a native Oklahoman with a Bachelors degree in Sociology/Criminology from the University of Oklahoma. He is a founding member of OPEA’s McClain County Chapter and served as President of his chapter and Vice Chair for Region 6.
“It is an honor to serve on the OPEA Board of Directors,” Cody said. “My priorities will be protecting state employee’s benefits, while obtaining market pay for all state employees, continuing to expand and participate in OPEA’s grassroots campaign, and increasing OPEA’s involvement at the region and county level.”
