Controversial Contract Stopped for 30 Days

After meeting with Senate President Pro Tempore designate Brian Bingman, the Office of Juvenile Affairs Executive Director called a halt to the controversial contract to privatize services at the Rader Center.

OPEA met with Bingman Wednesday and provided information and concerns about the Rite of Passage contract. In late November, the agency announced an intent to award the contract. Since that time, OPEA and the media have cast doubts over the process used to choose the vendor, because of collusion among Senator Harry Coates, lobbyist Haley Atwood, and OJA Director Gene Christian.

“This may not stop the ultimate outcome but the 30-day stay will allow authorities to ensure the process has been accountable and fair,” said OPEA Deputy Director Scott Barger.

I think that discpilenary action should be taken and both should be fired from their positions. In no way should the state legislature get by with this kind of actions. It makes a bad name for the State of Oklahoma. And we the citizens are paying them to do a job to benefit the State for the people, not taking money that doesn't belong to them and spending freely.
