Employee Market Compensation Task Force Briefs Governor

OPEA Executive Director Sterling Zearley, along with chairman Steven Hendrickson and members Nancy Love Robertson and Diane Haser-Bennett brief Governor Brad Henry on the findings of the Market Compensation Task Force study.  Following the briefing, the report will be given to legislative leaders.

As the task force was requested by OPEA, the association will announce its findings as soon as they are made public.

I just looked up the price of gas in 2005 it was $1.38 a gallon today, I pay $2.77 over double in the last two years. The price of food and dry goods have gone up at least 40%. We are going broke trying to pay bills, 10% HA what a joke!

My cost of living has gone up over 50% in two years. What is OPEA going to do about that?

Our Congress should be ashamed of their shortfall of consideration to the State Employee.

Ir is nice o know that the Governor and the LT Governor has enough money to make sure that their staff has a nice $300.00 to $500.00 per pay period pay raise. The Governor must think his staff are above regular state workers!

This is one thing nice that has came out of the Open Books website that went live on 1/1/2008!

I feel that all pay raises should be an across the board dollar amount. When we get percentage raises it is not fair to the lower paid employees. We are all feeling the rise in cost of gas and other items, so why not make pay raises fair to all. Thank you for the work you are doing for the state employees.

what kind of article was that? The audit should have been made public the minute it was finished. Everyone is feeling the increase in cost of living through out oklahoma. The only way we are going to get a substantial pay raise is if we show up in the thousands at the capital..until then we will continue to get a 5% pay raise every 3 to 4 yrs and be 15 to 20% behind the rest of the corporate world.. We even got tod Hiett out of office and still we are not getting very far in any kind of pay raise.. Yes its nice to have at least bills on the table..but I think I speak for all state employees when I say I wont hold my breath..all I can do is continue to vote for those who support state employees and pray that one day we get what we deserve.

There is more you can do. If you haven't joined, join OPEA, then recruit for OPEA, get more members on board, and be active in your council and during the picketing at the Capitol on Lobby Day. The more members on board, the more clout we have. Also, contact your legislatures and make your name known to them and that you want your legislatures to support the Oklahoma State Employee Pay Raise, and OPEA's Platform. So, Don't hold your breath, do something!
