Good Work OPEA!

The calls have been coming in to House members' offices telling them to not cut your health insurance benefits.  The issue has been resolved, at this time.

HB 1738, which would have frozen the benefit allowance, will not be heard again and has failed.  The author has agreed to strike the title on HB 1737, which would restructure the state insurance plan.  This means it remains a work in progress and must go to conference committee and through both chambers before advancing to the governor's desk.  Great Job OPEA members!

Watching the house online and they just overwhelmingly voted to allow themselves to opt out of state insurance. Rep Inman gave a very good speech against it saying approving it while requiring state employees to have insurance was hypocritical. He said it places more importance on them than the people they serve. The bill was sponcered by Rep Roberts of Durant. Business as usual I guess.

Good job everyone. We'll have to watch this.

Yeah Bobby. They also got out of the state IT consolidation. The Legislature will keep its own IT units, while agencies IT units are consolidated. "Separation of Powers" was Derby's smug excuse. When he passed HB 1304, he was pumping his arms up in celebration. During the questions on the bill, he finally admitted the bill could result in layoffs
