Tell House members to vote yes on HB 3382!
Legislation to keep public employees’ birth date private will be making a final trip through the legislature next week. HB 3382 (Terrill, Sykes) is on the House agenda for Monday and should be in the Senate later in the week.
Public employees’ duties often bring them in contact with the public in safety, protection of the most vulnerable and regulatory functions. Child welfare workers, corrections and probation officers, or benefit workers can be stalked by criminals or disgruntled members of the public with whom they have come in contact through the performance of their job duties. Employees’ birthdates can also be used by identity thieves to access bank accounts, credit history and medical records of public workers.
In addition, HB 3382 allows for the release of videos used in Department of Public Safety vehicles. Currently, the agency is not required to release this information.
If you know your House member's number in the district, call them over the weekend. Otherwise, call this afternoon or early Monday.
