Guess they were there looking for some one to hand them a check. Certainly not there to help out the state employees who are facing RIF's, furloughs or just being booted out of their jobs. Loved the way they are all smiling. They see Green and I am seeing Red. Don't think OPEA should give any of these slugs a dime. Why are they not standing up the agencies who are booting employees around? They tell you what you want to hear and then do the opposite. So tell them to take a long walk on a short pier.

Looking for an hand out,

These guy's are in our corner but, the problem is only 1/3 of State employee's are members of OPEA and less than 50 people showed up for Lobby Day in 2009.
Why would you think other Legislators give a damn about our pay and the security of our jobs when we don’t care and stand up for ourselves? We have NO ONE to blame but ourselves for the mess we are in.
There are roughly 2 to 3 thousand State employees here in the Capitol Complex and not even 50 could show up for Lobby Day in 2009…and all we hear is “I have to much work to do” or “I don’t have the annual time to use” Lobby Day is held from 11:30 to 1:00 and there is NO EXCUSE for not showing up especially if you work at the Capitol Complex. Bottom line you won’t have any work to get behind on after being RIF’ed! If you don’t get involved and let your voice be heard, we will get more of the same if not, being jobless.
What is frustrating is when someone posts bitter comments on this blog, not being educated about the issues and those who are trying help us.
I know this sound mean and rude but, I cannot sit here and let you bad mouth Senator Kenneth Corn, Representatives Mike Christian and Randy Terrill, “the hand that’s trying to feed (help) us.”
So, go ahead whine, cry and moan about what’s not being done for you, when just about all of our fellow State employees are to damn lazy to do anything for themselves.

If any of you new hires are reading this and not involved in OPEA along with not attending Lobby Day then you lose your job in 2010, I will not feel sorry for you at all…oh by the way the new hires will be the first to go!

Get involved and join OPEA!

ATTEND LOBBY DAY 2010!

Mr. FattCatt just want you to know that I am involved in OPEA so maybe you should know what you are talking about before you start spouting off. Not every one sits in your throne room most of us are in the front lines working. So before you start calling everyone lazy maybe you should experience some of the real world. These guys you are talking about have not been doing a whole lot for state employees or we would not be in the shape we are in. Yes, everyone needs to belong to OPEA and attend meeting, lobby days and other events. In the real world lots of people work in 24 hour care facilities where they cannot just take off because they would like to because staffing issues. Does not mean they are lazy or good for nothing people. It means they are trying to put food on the table for their families. So when you say you will not be sorry for people who lose their jobs maybe you should go back and read what OPEA is all about. Making Oklahoma a better place to live and WORK for everyone. Glad you feel so comfortable in your job situation.

Looking for a hand out,

B.S. there is over 37,000 State employees and you are trying to defend all of them. Again if you don't take time to get involved you will not have a 24 hour job to go to or have any food to put on your table!

...and I believe this is Representatives Mike Christian and Randy Terrill's first term so, they have not had a chance to do anything.

Your original comment about Representatives Mike Christian and Randy Terrill was disrespectful and a lie! They are not looking for a handout, these guy's are in our corner and as a matter of fact have joined and are members of OPEA.
Therefore; they are actually giving money to OPEA not taking it.
For you to make a comment like that was wrong!

On the issue of laziness I call them like I see them…and about working on the front lines, in the real world (as you say) I work at ODOT, dodging traffic all day and on into the late night so, don’t tell me about being on the front lines or being available to do anything. I know for a fact if I can do it anyone can…NO EXCUSE!

…and I still stand behind my comment:

“If any of you new hires are reading this and not involved in OPEA along with not attending Lobby Day and you lose your job in 2010, I will not feel sorry for you at all…oh by the way the new hires will be the first to go!”
Looking for an hand out, you must fall in this category you being a member of OPEA or not.

Get involved…ATTEND LOBBY DAY 2010 if not for our jobs, then a least show up for the safety and well being of the Oklahoma citizen.
