Representative Ken Miller if you are serious about suggestions or ideas to aid in Oklahoma’s budget crisis I hope you could consider my suggestion.
Oklahoma MUST have a guaranteed income rather than gambling with the price of natural gas...I say bring back the vehicle inspection sticker!
It will not only create a new income but will reinforce the tax collected for car tags not to mention making Oklahoma roads safer. I can’t tell how many times I see cars without break lights, tails lights or a head light out. Having an inspection sticker in plain sight gives police a quick glance to insure that the driver has all of his lawful requirements made like having car insurance and an up-to-date tag.
I agree that the amount of taxes in one state to another should not matter however; the management does and that is why Oklahoma is in much better shape than California...thank God. The fact still remains some kind of income should be a guaranty to the state rather to put all our eggs in the basket with natural gas.
I have heard several times now that the reason Oklahoma is in such bad shape is because of the low cost of natural gas and in my opinion that’s no better than a crap shoot in Vegas or relying on the stock market to fund the state’s budget. I say let’s put down the dice and go for the sure bet...bring back the inspection sticker!
