OPEA ATTENDS CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION CAMPAIGN KICKOFF--IPOD Winners Announced!

State employees at the Capitol enjoyed a hot dog lunch recently, complete with drinks, chips, and cookies sponsored in part by OPEA. The annual event kicked off the state’s Charitable Contribution Campaign, where employee donations help fund various organizations helping Oklahoma citizens.

“This is a fantastic way for state workers to help their neighbors who are less fortunate,” said OPEA Membership Representative Brandon Watkins.  “But they are also putting their money back into the communities as well.”

Individuals got into the spirit of football season with a football toss and a chance to win a prize.

“Everyone who tried walked away a winner,” Watkins said. “We got the crowd going, and people really got into the spirit of the day.”

Workers were given a raffle ticket, which could potentially lead them to the grand prize of an ipod. Not one, but two people will be the lucky recipients.

“It was a positively outstanding day today. Lots of state workers were there in support of the campaign. I would say most who attended couldn’t resist walking past the football throw without giving it a go themselves. Everyone had a good time,” said Watkins.

OPEA Executive Director’s Assistant Nancy Hughes was on hand for the event, and said she felt a sense of nostalgia.   “Seeing new faces and old friends was fun,” Hughes said.  “Throughout my career at OPEA I have been fortunate to work with many great people through the years and it was great re-connecting.”

OPEA Membership Representative Alicia Wright manned the tables with Hughes and said she also had a positive opinion about the campaign. “It was a great success. Everyone was energetic and pumped about the upcoming session,” said Wright.

The winning raffle numbers are 7-8-7-2-8-5 and 7-8-7-2-3-8.  Contact Brandon Watkins at OPEA to claim your ipod!
