Oklahoma Public Employees Association Executive Director Sterling Zearley issued the following statement after Oklahoma Department of Human Services Director Howard Hendrick announced he would retire from OKDHS at the end of February.

“Howard Hendrick has devoted his life to public service, first as a member of the Oklahoma State Senate and then as Oklahoma’s DHS Director for the past 13 years. Howard has always maintained a generous ‘open door’ policy, and he always welcomed OPEA’s input on issues important to state employees.

“Howard has always been a strong advocate for his employees and for Oklahoma’s most vulnerable citizens. We hope his devotion to DHS will be remembered as his lasting legacy. My staff and I wish Howard and his family the very best.”

END
