OPEA Hosts Candidate Forum This Week

This year the election for House District 45 between incumbent Wallace Collins and Aaron Stiles will be hotly contested and state employees can make a big difference in the outcome.  OPEA will host a forum in the Lowry Room at the Norman Library Thursday, August 28, at 7 pm to question the candidates on state employee issues.  This is your opportunity to hear the candidates and provide input to the association endorsement process.    We hope to see you there!

Wallace Collins threw workers at the Norman Veterans Center under the bus. Wallace has got to go! I'm voting for Stiles.

What I heard from Wallace Collins at the forum was a whole lot of "I tried but,...." and "it's not me its the leadership". When I spoke Wallace after the forum he seemed very closed minded and doesn't seem to understand that he is supposed to represent us, not tell us that he knows what is best for us.

I was much more impressed with Aaron Stiles, he seems in touch with the problems we all facing and much more willling to cross party lines to help state employees.

So, I agree that Wallace Collins has got to go!

While I am not a fan of Wallace Collins I am not sure Aaron Stiles is the answer for state workers. It seems to me he only speaks about the hot button issues where Collins has made mistakes. During the primary his website made no mention of state workers...the question is: Does Aaron Stiles care about state workers...or the OPEAPAC endorsement?

Wallace Collins may not get the things done as all of us would like but he does care about the state employees in the area. Does Stiles even understand the issues. Wallace has taken a stance in support of employee benefit protection and rights of employees. He may not be the shining star but at least he keeps the light on for the state employees in his district. If Stiles is so concerned about state employees why has he not been involved until now he wants something from them.

Hmmmm? Could it be that Stiles hasn't done anything for state employees because he is not the representative yet? Just a thought. Not sure who to vote for yet though. I have done some research to find out that state workers received pay raises while Balkman was in office but not one while Wallace was in office. You say Wallace has kept the light on, but I don't think anybody is home.
