UPDATED: OPEA Hosts Two January Town Hall Meetings

OPEA members are urged to mark their calendars for two Town Hall meetings in early January.

The first will be in Region 9 in Northeast Oklahoma.  It will be held Tuesday, January 12th at JL's Barbeque in Pryor, on Highway 69 between Pryor and Choteau, beginning at 5:30 pm. (Please note the new date; this meeting was originally scheduled for Thursday, January 7th, but was changed to Tuesday, January 12th due to inclement weather.)

The second Town Hall meeting will also include a Chili Supper and will be held in Region 6.  It will be held Thursday, January 14th at the OEC Building in Norman, 242 24th Avenue NW, beginning at 5:30.

All state employees, both active and retired, are encouraged to attend to learn how budget cuts, RIFs, furloughs and VOBOs will affect you, and what OPEA is doing to protect your job.

These are important meetings you can't afford to miss! For additional information, phone OPEA offices at 405.524.6764

The chili maker is ready to cook. Please mark your calendar for this event. We need to have everyone turn out and express their concerns about the budget cuts and reduction in state services. See you on 1/14/10

Well # - if we just sit on our hands no one will listen. It is my thought that we need to let our voices be heard and I fully intend to keep on fighting to save services and jobs. Hope you will join in the fight because we need everyone to stand up and speak out on behalf of our members and the citizens of Oklahoma.

Dixie is right. If we just sit on our hands NO ONE will listen. But if we get off of our lazy butts and contact our legislators and attend the town halls and let our voices be heard they WILL listen. It is up to you and me and every other state employee who wants to KEEP their job to speak up. Let the Legislature know that we will not stand for them balancing the budget on our backs like they have done so many times before. We not only owe it to ourselves and our fellow employees but we owe it to the Citizens of the State of Oklahoma. Everone needs to be at the town halls in their area and we ALL MUST be at lobby day.
