State Representative Terry Hyman died June 27 in a farm accident on his Love County farm.
"OPEA lost a great friend," said Deputy Director Scott Barger.
"Representative Hyman was a good friend to state employees and very
popular with our members."
According to published reports, Hyman was standing beside his
tractor when it lunged forward and knocked him to the ground. The
brush hog, a heavy-duty rotary mower, rolled on top of him. Hyman
pulled himself from underneath the machinery before succumbing to his
injuries.
The state Democratic Party Central Committee chose an Ardmore lawyer Tuesday to run for Hyman's House seat.
42-year-old Samson Ray Buck, a Democrat and also a rancher, will run for the House District 49 seat.
