OPEA members have until Dec. 15 to change their region from their home to their work location. Participants at the OPEA Convention in August requested that members be given this option.
“Some OPEA members who commute to their jobs wanted to participate in Association activities at their workplace,” said OPEA Executive Director Sterling Zearley.
The default region assignment for OPEA members is by residence, but some members commute to another region. For example, many state employees who live in Canadian and Cleveland counties, in Region 6, drive to Oklahoma City, which is in Region 5, to work. Commuters can participate in OPEA activities at their workplace, but, until now, they could not vote or run for leadership positions in their work location region.
Members who transfer to their work location will still receive their OPEA mail at their residence.
The option to change regions will not be available again until December 2013. Members who would like to transfer their membership to their work location should fill out the form and mail or fax it to the OPEA office. To download a form click here.
