The Oklahoma Public Employees Association is saddened at the loss of former Lieutenant Governor Jack Mildren.
“Jack was a great friend to OPEA and had enormous respect for state employees,” said Sterling Zearley, OPEA Executive Director.
“He was a great figure on Oklahoma’s political landscape and always willing to go the extra mile for OPEA. He was a champion for employees across the state, and a man we all will miss,” Zearley said.
Mildren was lieutenant governor during the Walters Administration, and ran for governor himself in 1994.
OPEA’s first executive director, Pat J. Hall, said Mildren was a personal friend and usually the first on the scene at an OPEA function.
“When Jack decided to run for governor, OPEA was one of the first groups to endorse him and we worked 24/7 for his election.
“I will miss my friend and state employees will miss his passion to defend working men and women,” Hall said.
