OSP correctional officer Randy Lopez formally accepted his "Gaines Stout Leadership Award" Tuesday at OPEA offices in Oklahoma City.
Lopez was one of two OPEA members to receive this year's award, but was unable to attend the awards ceremony at the annual convention in August.
"We are very fortunate to have leaders like Sergeant Lopez," said OPEA Executive Director Sterling Zearley. "He has been president of the OSP chapter for the past three years and has been successful in drawing attention to the critical staffing needs at the prison."
Lopez, along with OKDHS employee Haley Faulkenberry, were recognized as this year's outstanding leaders, both receiving the Gaines Stout Award.
