Members of the OPEA board and staff paid a recruiting visit recently to the Oklahoma City offices of DDSD. Membership Representative Jimmy Durant, Region Five Director Carrie Croy, as well as OPEA Executive Director Sterling Zearley held the all-day event and served donuts and pizza.

The recruiting drive was organized by OPEA member Sammy Nye, and the rallying cry for the day was “Protect our Birth Dates!”

OPEA Member Sammy Nye organized the drive, and earned $300 for recruiting new members.

“We were just about to end when we received word that Senate Bill 1753 (the “Birth Date Bill”) had passed out of the House Appropriations Committee by a vote of 12-2,” Durant said. “It turned out to be a very successful day, with the addition of 33 new members.”

Because of the on-going recruitment drive bonus, Nye earned $300 for registering new members. At a recent meeting, the OPEA Board agreed to extend the recruitment drive bonus until June 30th.
