OPEA members in Region Eight met May 21, 2010, to discuss issues which they would like to see on OPEA’s platform.
“Members from Region Eight excited to have the opportunity to forward platform ideas for OPEA,” stated Harold Wright who is the Region 8 Board Director.
For a few of the members it was their first time to take part in the OPEA platform process.
“I am glad OPEA has gone back to the regional model of organization,” stated OPEA member and OKDHS employee Cory Scheer. “It has given me the opportunity to be active in OPEA here in the Tulsa community.”
Several of the issues debated for the platform surrounded protecting state employees during the tough economic time Oklahoma is currently undergoing.
The platforms discussed and approved at the meeting will be forwarded to OPEA for publication in the
Advocate and consideration at the OPEA Delegate Assembly in August.
