TEXOMA CHAPTER BACK ON BOARD

OPEA Membership Director Dean Balmer met with employees at the Madill DHS office on September 20th to discuss the up coming legislative session and their role with the association.

Phyllis Stanley, long time member of OPEA, spearheaded the meeting, calling on all employees in her office to be members. “We want to get Johnston County back involved," said Phyllis Stanley, "they were vital to our chapter in the past.”

Balmer pointed out the importance of the chapters and the influence they have on local leaders.

“Employees in Madill and Johnston County had a very strong chapter years ago and some of those leaders are still with us,” he said. “OPEA members Cindy Searcy and James Bland signed up to support their fellow workers and look forward to helping all state employees achieve the goals at the state capitol. “

Balmer said it was a great day for OPEA in Southern Oklahoma.

“A meeting is being put together in October to bring both counties together and elect their new chapter officers. Of the 25 employees in the DHS office in Madill, all but two were members of OPEA,” he said. “At the close of the meeting, 100% were on board.”
