Let me start off by saying I began my career in corrections working for a private prison which was bought out by the state and I received the same classroom training as those working for the state. The only difference was the self defense traing I received was only 2 days and not 4 but it was the same training the state has at the accademy. We were always adequately staffed and with 12 hour shifts there were no doubles and every other week everyone had Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. If OPEA wants to eliminate manditory doubles implementing 12 hour shifts state wide would do this. In fact when I started for the stae at MBCC the old MBCC officers were amazed at how much I knew and how well I was trained by a private prison.
