OPEA On-the-Air: Calling for Cuts to Private Contractors Before State Employees

In light of State Treasurer Scott Meacham’s Tuesday press conference saying he doesn’t think Oklahoma’s economy has hit bottom yet, the OPEA is asking private contractors to cut back on expenses as well as state agencies.

“Private prison contractors, as well as mental health care providers like North Care and Red Rock need to cut back as well,” said Mark Beutler, OPEA Director of Communications. “If they’re sharing in the profits, they need to share in our pain and make their own cuts before state employees are RIF’d or furloughed.”
