Come join us at the Oklahoma State Capitol on March 29, 2023 to lobby legislators on bills impacting retirees! OPEA, along with our partner groups (Oklahoma Retired Educators Association, Oklahoma Retired Firefighters, Fraternal Order of Police, Oklahoma AFL-CIO, and the Oklahoma Retiree Association), will be hosting a lobby day event to help advance legislation that will impact members of the state retirement systems and retirees throughout the state. The event will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Attendees are asked to please RSVP at the link below so an accurate headcount can be made.
Attendees will meet at Room 4S.3 next to the Fourth Floor Rotunda to receive information on legislation and legislators. Parking can be found at the State Capitol in the South Visitors Lot or at the AFL-CIO offices at 501 NE 27th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73105. Teamsters Local 886 will be providing a shuttle from the AFL to the Capitol Visitors Entrance beginning at 8:00 a.m. The AFL-CIO Office will be open to wait for the arrival of the shuttle. The shuttle will drop you off at the state Capitol where you must enter and go through security. When you are ready to return to your car the shuttle will pick up where they drop off & take you back to the AFL-CIO Office. If parking at AFL, park across the street and the shuttle will pick you up at the office.
Please use this link to RSVP by 5:00 p.m. on March 27, 2023, to receive more information. By registering, we can more accurately pair groups together to allow for more direct lobbying efforts.
Below are the bills that will be addressed at the event. We are reaching out to Senators to encourage them to have these bills scheduled, heard in committee, on the floor, and passed by the full Senate! We will be providing handouts and more information on the bills in Room 4S.3
