Altus DOC Rewarded for 100 Percent Membership

It was a perfect fall day recently when OPEA traveled to Altus to host a fish fry for DOC employees who achieved 100 percent membership! Executive Director Sterling Zearley was on hand, as well as State Representative Charles Ortega.

“I’m very proud of the DOC workers here in Altus,” said Zearley. “It takes effort to get everyone on board with OPEA in each and every local county office, and we’re here today to recognize their efforts and reward them with something they can participate in that is positive and fun. We have several local county state agencies from across the state which have unanimous membership and expect to be having many more reward luncheons in the near future,” Zearley said.

OPEA encourages its members and rewards them when their individual location achieves 100 percent status.

“We chose to do a fish fry together for our luncheon, just like we chose to be 100 percent OPEA membership in this county office,” said DOC Work Center Employee Tameron Sessions. “It takes all of us together in order to succeed as state employees. It’s important to get the word out about what OPEA is all about and how they continually work for us day in and day out. We as state employees need to make it our priority to join OPEA, for us,” Sessions said.

“I’ve been a state employee and OPEA Member for many years and now I’m getting ready to retire from state government,” said Chief Mark Leistner. “I’m so glad that the workers here decided on OPEA and will continue to fight for what’s rightfully theirs. I’m appreciative of OPEA traveling here and putting on such a great function,” Leistner said.

If you are a state employee and want your voice heard at the Capitol, then it’s time to join your coworkers in order to have the biggest and loudest voice possible.
