Definition:
Responsible for organizing state employees under the general direction of the Membership Director. Will identify and recruit members, organize workers to address worksite issues; Educate and train leaders to participate in Association activities. Overnight and travel is involved.
Compensation:
-
- $40,000 per year base salary and a generous performance-based incentive program with the ability to make up to $68,000 per year.

- Yearly Longevity bonuses including years of service to the state of Oklahoma.

- $65/per month phone stipend

- Meals are paid for by OPEA when traveling for work.
Examples of Work Performed:
-
- Work with the Membership Director to develop and implement an organizing plan.

- Responsible for organizing state employees at work locations as defined in the organizing plan and based on agency, facility, shift, occupation, and geographic areas.

- Works with Membership Director to develop and implement strategies to recruit new members.

- Will recruit and develop work location leaders and promote participation in Association activities.

- Assist members in the development and implementation of strategies to address work location issues.

- Mobilize members to participate in rallies and other OPEA activities.

- Maintain plans, files, and related documents on targeted work locations and chapters.

- Assist and support chapters, leaders, and activities.

- Answers inquiries from members regarding public employees’ rights and benefits.

- Performs related work as required and assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:

- Shall be knowledgeable of conditions pertaining to Oklahoma state employment and Oklahoma Politics

- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships in an adversarial setting; in communicating effectively and exercising good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

- Self-Starter: Must be able to set your own schedule and plan events to meet recruitment standards.
Education and Experience:
-
- Bachelor’s degree; OR
-
- May substitute degree with 4 years of experience in Oklahoma state employment, employee relations, sales, politics, collective bargaining, or a combination of those listed.
