OPEA Board Looks Toward the Future

The OPEA Board of Directors took steps toward the future at its regular meeting March 11, after the conclusion of Lobby Day.

“We brought many important issues in front of the board this last meeting,” said OPEA executive director Sterling Zearley.

Among the items discussed was a future partnership with the Pre Paid Legal organization.

“We are going to have some exciting news for our members soon regarding some different levels of membership,” Zearley said.

Other items discussed included consideration of membership goals, current legislation and the Southern States conference, which OPEA will host in the summer of 2008.

Also on the agenda was the board’s acceptance of President Billy Moore’s resignation.

“Billy served this association well through his 18 month tenure,” Zearley said. “Now that he is retiring from the state, he will no longer be able to serve in this capacity.”

Vice President Connie Stockton will serve as Interim President.

Next board meeting will be April 7, as part of the association’s annual Agency Director Breakfast.
