About 100 OPEA members from across Oklahoma converged on the Lake Murray Lodge and state park this weekend for the annual Convention and Delegates Assembly. Councils met Saturday morning and elected new officers for the upcoming year. An awards luncheon was held, and state Representatives Randy Terrill and Mike Christian were on hand, with Terrill receiving OPEA’s “Legislator of the Year” award.
“It’s been a successful convention,” said long-time board member Dixie Jackson, “but it’s a shame more people didn’t attend.” Jackson and her husband Art were part of the original founding members in 1975.
Delegates voted on the Association’s platform, and advanced plans for moving toward a geographical representation. Look for complete Convention details here on the website next week, and in the September issue of the Advocate.
