In light of the information contained in the multicounty grand jury report and the Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector’s investigative performance audit of the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH), OPEA will meet with our attorney tomorrow at 10 a.m. to discuss legal options available to former OSDH employees who were affected by this year’s Reduction in Force (RIF).
The agency was never insolvent and the RIFs and other budget reductions were unnecessary. OSDH employees and clients suffered the consequences for agency mismanagement and remedies must be found.
OPEA will now explore legal options available to OSDH employees who were fired under cover of the agency’s misleading financial information.
We encourage any of the former OSDH employees who lost their jobs in the RIF to contact OPEA by telephoning (405) 524-6764 or emailing OPEA. If legal action is appropriate, we want to ensure as many affected former employees as possible have an opportunity to participate in a potential lawsuit.
