OPEA Urges Employees to “SHOW UP STRONG” for Lobby Day 2010

OPEA staffers have been canvassing Oklahoma, as well as the Capitol complex, talking to state employees about the need to “Show up Strong” for Lobby Day 2010.

“So far, state employees have been receptive,” said Membership Representative Haley Blood. “Many have valid concerns about the status of their employment, and say they will be on hand next week to talk to their legislators.”

OPEA’s annual Lobby Day will be Tuesday, March 9th. Registration begins at 9 am in the second floor rotunda, with a rally on the south steps of the Capitol beginning at11:15.
All OPEA members and state employees are encouraged to “Show up Strong.”

“We haven’t seen a budget crisis like this in years,” Blood said. “State employees are being RIFd and furloughed, so now is the time to speak up and let your voice be heard. That’s what OPEA is all about, uniting state employees. We’re looking forward to having good attendance and talking to our legislators about the valuable services state employees provide to Oklahoma.”
