OPEA is looking for someone who knows the importance of state employees and the services they provide to join our membership team at our Oklahoma City office. We currently have an opening for one membership representative

This position is responsible for organizing state employees under the general direction of OPEA’s membership director. They will identify and recruit members, organize workers to address worksite issues; Educate and train leaders to participate in Association activities. Overnight and extended travel is involved.

Our membership representatives work with OPEA’s membership director to develop and implement strategies to recruit new members, and develop and implement a plan to further organize OPEA members at state agency work locations. Work with OPEA’s membership director to develop and implement strategies to recruit new members.

Our membership representatives also work with the team to develop OPEA leaders at state agency work location and promote participation in OPEA activities. They assist members in the development and implementation of strategies to address work location issues and mobilize members to participate in OPEA activities. Membership representatives also assist and support OPEA activities and assist with the association’s legislative program as needed.

The successful candidate should have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with members, potential members and other stakeholders in various settings. The will have skills in effective verbal and written communication and show the ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

Candidates must meet minimum requirements of an Associates Degree in Labor Relations, Business, Political Science, Personnel Management or related field with four years of related experience, or a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Labor Relations, Business, Political Science, Personnel Management or related field with two years of related experience, or

Candidate may substitute degree for five years’ experience in employee relations, insurance, sales, grievance representation, collective bargaining, retirement and pension consulting, or a combination of those listed, AND Two years of experience organizing employees.
