Paid Family Leave for state employees bill passes Senate Commitees

A bill that would provide 12 weeks of paid family leave for Oklahoma state employees passed out of two Senate committees this week (Pensions, Retirement & Insurance and Appropriations) and will next be scheduled for a Senate floor vote.  Senate Bill 1581, by Senator Kay Floyd (D-Oklahoma City), would provide paid family leave to new parents and for the care of ill family members and military veterans.  This bill would provide a great benefit to Oklahoma’s state workers and we’re greatly encouraged by the overwhelming support (31-0 vote in appropriations) received by the bill thus far.
