The 2023 OPEA Business Meeting was held on August 26, 2023. This meeting served the purpose of reviewing member submitted platform planks that would be used to establish the 2024 legislative agenda. Approved planks will be added to the 2023 agenda to round out the full goals at the State Capitol for OPEA next year.
The meeting was conducted in person at the OPEA office and via Zoom to allow members as many opportunities to participate as possible. Three proposed planks were discussed, amended, and advanced to online voting. All OPEA members can now vote to approve or deny each of these planks.
Additionally, Tracey Ritz gave a report regarding issues facing the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS). Tracey is a long-time OPEA member and also serves as a Trustee of the OPERS Board. Recent legislation signed into law would require OPERS to divest in organizations that have been critical of the oil and gas industry. This law could result in significant financial impacts to OPERS and the state’s other retirement systems.
The meeting was then concluded. Please consider voting on platform planks! If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact the OPEA office at info@opea.org or at 405-524-6764
