Even if you cannot attend Wednesday OPEA Day at the Capitol, you can still make a difference by contacting your legislators during your lunch hour on Wednesday. We ask all state employees to call, email or write your state senator, and house of representatives member then let OPEA know that you’ve contacted them by either emailing Tom Dunning or by posting it on OPEA’s Facebook page.
We want all state employees to tell their representatives:
It is time to begin to address low state employee pay this session. The pay study said that our pay is too low and this costs Oklahoma millions of dollars in unnecessary employee turnover costs. Our state employees continue to provide great services but many of us struggle to take care of our families due to low pay. Please support increasing state employee pay to closer to the market this legislative session.
Remember to tell them that you are their constituent and be polite and professional. Also, be sure to use your own telephone and email address to contact them. Let OPEA know about your contact after you make it.
If you can be here in person on Wednesday, we’d love for you to join us. OPEA will provide lunch and go over our message to legislators beginning at noon. Then we will all go to the capitol together. OPEA staff will be there to help you find your legislators and answer any questions.
