Remembering Jim Blankenship

Funeral services for longtime OPEA member and political action trustee, Jim Blankenship will be Friday, November 18th, 1 p.m. at Good News Church in Yukon. Viewing is today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Yanda and Son Funeral Home in Yukon. He was active in OPEA for more than 20 years and was a retired Department of Tourism employee.

James Thomas “Jim” Blankenship, 74, of Yukon, OK passed away November 14, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born March 12, 1942 in Dallas, TX to Atley and Glenna (Jones) Blankenship.
He served in the US Air Force Reserves in the early 1960’s.  Moving with his wife Mary to Oklahoma City, OK in 1970, they relocated to Yukon, OK in 1973.

He was a member of the Yukon City Council, serving one term as Vice-Mayor, May 1988 to May 1989 and one term as Mayor of Yukon, May 1989 to May 1990. Jim was also a faithful member of Good News Church in Yukon.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Atley Blankenship and mother, Glenna Blankenship.

He is survived by wife, Mary Blankenship; sons, Jason Blankenship and Brian Blankenship and sister, Cheryl Schmidt.
