State Treasurer Urges Adoption of “Pay-as-we-go” Approach

According to the Oklahoma Policy Institute, State Treasurer Ken Miller recently said Oklahoma should adopt the “pay-as-we-go” approach to help ensure future fiscal soundness for our state. The pay-as-you-go approach, also known as PAYGO, would require Oklahoma’s lawmakers “to pay for the cost of any reduction in revenues or expansion of services.” As the Legislature continues to discuss a plan for reducing the state’s income tax, many important figures have come forward to encourage lawmakers to pass measures that promise to be revenue neutral.
