OK Policy Research on Oklahoma’s Shrinking State Employee Workforce

The Oklahoma Policy Institute released an analysis of Oklahoma’s state employee workforce today.

Over the last three years, Oklahoma has lost over 3,800 state employees who were providing important services to citizens across the state. Most of the loss can be attributed to agencies increasing vacancy rates during budget cuts. State employees are often doing the jobs of several others who have retired or left state service for better paying jobs. Those remaining have sacrificed time with family serve the state and cannot continue at this pace.
