Registration is now open for this year’s Annual Convention and Delegate Assembly at the Lodge at Sequoyah State Park, near Hulbert, OK, to be held August 23rd and 24th. The convention committee has been working hard to create opportunities for family fun in addition to the OPEA business we will conduct. You can find the 2019 Convention Registration Form here. Registration may be mailed to the OPEA office at 13 NE 28th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73105 or emailed to OPEA. This year’s convention theme is “On the Front Lines with You”
Friday night the 23rd, we will have a “cowboy buffet” in the lodge, a hayride and other activities that is free for all members and their family members. We will begin Saturday with a breakfast and then get down to OPEA business. There will be a silent auction, 50/50, door prizes and more on Saturday. We will honor our award winners during a luncheon Saturday and plan our 2020 legislative agenda.
OPEA will pay for Friday night’s lodging (minus $20.00) for any member who attends the convention through the delegate assembly on Saturday August 24th. At the end of the convention, OPEA will hand each member present who stayed at the lodge on Friday night, a card to give to the desk clerk when you check out of the room. This card will assure that OPEA will pay for your room. If members choose to upgrade to a suite, OPEA will pay towards the cost of the suite up to the price of a standard room. OPEA will not pay the cost of any members who leave the convention prior to the end of the delegate assembly on Saturday. There is no cost to attend the convention for those who attend on Saturday only. We do ask that anyone who attends whether they are staying at the lodge preregister with OPEA so we can have an accurate count.
Members who are spending the night at the lodge must make their own reservations at the Lodge at Sequoyah State Park and may do so by calling them at 918-772-2545 or 800-368-1486. Be sure to tell them you are with OPEA. You will need to reserve your room with the lodge using your credit card. OPEA will not reserve a room for you.
Members will also need to provide the lodge with a credit card when they check in to pay for any incidentals. OPEA will not pay for any room incidentals for any members. We will only pay for Friday night’s lodging and applicable taxes minus $20.00. Attendees who stay additional nights will be responsible for those charges.
There is no registration fee for the convention that includes Friday evening’s cowboy buffet, hayride, hospitality room and other activities for delegates and guests; breakfast and lunch on Saturday for OPEA delegates and a convention t-shirt. The convention registration will be charged to your credit card that is on file with the lodge when you check out.
This is going to be a fun and meaningful convention with lots of entertaining activities available for members and their families. Plus, we will be determining how OPEA will work this next year, which will likely be another challenging one for state employees and retirees.
If you have questions, please call OPEA at (405) 524-6764 or email Dixie Jackson.
