After working only 22 days at Jackson County Health Department, I was invited to an OPEA lunch. Membership Representative Brandon Watkins outlined OPEA’s purpose and I didn’t have to think twice about joining. For only $15 a month, I will have someone who will be watching out for my interests as a state employee. It’s a comfort for me knowing that I belong to an association that is a watchdog for my benefits and is in my corner at the state Capitol. Together, state employees can improve the quality of our employment by having one voice speak for us through Oklahoma Public Employee Association.
I was very impressed to see my State Representative Charles Ortega at our meeting. I personally know Representative Ortega and seeing that OPEA works with him is very important to me. Representative Ortega is an honest man who values his constituents opinions and is always willing to listen, even if we don’t always agree on issues.
So in conclusion, thank you, Brandon and OPEA for coming to Altus!
